PTE (Pearson Test of English) is the English test undertaken by students and aspirants (non-native English language speakers) who wants to go abroad to study or immigrate to a major English-speaking country. Students are required to take the PTE exam to prove their English language proficiency. PTE is a computer-based examination that lasts for 3 hours.
PTE is divided into four parts:
1. Reading
2. Listening
3. Speaking
4. Writing
Speaking and Writing are done together. The examinee will get the score within 48 hours of the examination and the score is calculated considering the communicative and enabling skills of the examinee. Communicative skills contains reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whereas enabling skills contains grammar, oral fluency, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and written disclosure.
There are two types of PTE courses:
PTE general Training
PTE Academic Training
Both courses consist of reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections. PTE General training is taken by students who want to travel abroad for work purposes and study. PTE General Scores are acceptable around the globe. PTE Academic is generally taken by those students who want to study in international colleges and universities. PTE academics are highly preferable in Australia and New Zealand. The scores for PTE are valid for two years.
